Sensors for monitoring microbial metabolism and its regulation: structural and imaging approaches (Z01)
To unravel the dynamic regulation of microbial networking at the intra- and intercellular levels with respect to their spatial and temporal organisation requires a comprehensive toolkit. Genetically encoded sensors have proven their worth as reporters for a wide range of dynamic processes in single cell- and multicellular organisms. Within this project we will (i) design, engineer and develop sensors, (ii) perform detailed structural characterisation and optimisation of the sensors, and (iii) apply advanced imaging methods to enable the application of sensor technology with a high standard of comparability and reproducibility across all CRC groups.
